Agile has become overcomplicated — buried under frameworks, rituals, and certifications that often obscure the very intent the Agile Manifesto set out to capture. In this session, Dr. Alistair Cockburn strips agile back to its essence: four imperative verbs — Collaborate · Deliver · Reflect · Improve.

This radical simplification does two things. First, it makes agile dramatically easier to introduce, explain, and adopt across an organization — no jargon, no certifications, no ceremony cargo-culting required. Second, when we replace referenceto work products with the broader concept of "decisions," the same four verbs apply far beyond software: to organizational transformations, social impact initiatives, marketing, product development, and any mental-social endeavor where teams must think and act together.

Dr. Alistair Cockburn (pronounced CO-BURN) is recognized worldwide as one of the foremost authorities on software development methodologies, project management, software architecture, use cases, and agile development. In 2020 he was named one of the "42 Greatest Software Professionals of All Time."

A pioneer of the agile movement, Dr. Cockburn co-authored both the Agile Manifesto and the Declaration of Interdependence in Project Management — two foundational documents that have shaped how modern organizations deliver software and manage complex initiatives.
